Qualifications of ZookNIC

Dr. Matthew Zook is the founder of ZookNIC Inc, a consulting firm specializing in providing research on the use and diffusion of the Internet and the domain name system. He received a Masters degree from Cornell University and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. He has provided consulting services to domain name registries, registrars, registrants and analysts around the world since 2001. Sample clients and projects available upon request. He has served as an expert witness and given testimony in U.S. Federal Court on the use and distribution of domain names.

Dr. Zook is also an associate professor of economic geography at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. He has an extensive record of research in peer-reviewed academic journals and has recently published a book on the Internet industry called The Geography of the Internet Industry (Blackwell, 2005). He was recently awarded a National Science Foundation grant, Connecting Cyberspace to Place, which examines how e-commerce allows the (re)formulation of value chains, and thereby affects existing geographies of production, distribution and sales. In 2007 he was selected to serve as Fulbright Scholar and was also awarded a grant from the NGS Committee for Research and Exploration.
